While I do write all of my guides for free, it does take a lot of time and
effort to put them together. If you're feeling generous and want to show your
appreciation, I am gladly accepting donations. I don't know exactly what the
donations will be used for, but just know that you would definitely be helping
me make more quality FAQs! Even the smallest donation amounts are appreciated,
and are a great way to say how much you appreciate the work I do. If you do
decide you'd like to donate, please send the donations through PayPal at the
e-mail address listed below. Thank you so very much for considering this!!

By the way, this is also my contact e-mail, so if you want to contribute
something to this or any of my other FAQs, or have a question to ask about one
of them, go ahead and use this e-mail.

Welcome to another FAQ of mine. This one covers the GameBoy game Word Zap, one
of the oldest, rarest, and, in my opinion, greatest games ever released on the
GameBoy. Of course, coming from my love of such games, that doesn't mean much.
:) But, honestly, this game is sort of like Scrabble mixed with Wordtris (so,
yeah, it's 2/3 Scrabble).

Yeah, I don't have much to say about this. But try to enjoy.

We'll simply go over the controls and each game mode, as listed in the game
menu from top to bottom.

--------
Controls
--------

~~ D-Pad : Move cursor.
~~ A Button : Confirm selection.
~~ B Button : Cancel selection.
~~ Start Button : Unpause.
~~ Select Button: Pause.
~~ L/R Buttons : These only have functions on the GBA SP and GameBoy Player
ways of playing the game. They will widen/narrow the screen,
                  respectively. Otherwise, N/A.

-------------------------
Word Hat - Challenge Play
-------------------------

~~ Difficulty: From one to three (one being easy), how hard is the game?
~~ Hint : Use hints?
~~ Plurals : Allow pluralized words; often, they end in "-s".
~~ Music : Which music track to play?

On the left part of the screen, on the narrow tile tray, you'll see some tiles;
on the right side, you'll find a bunch of empty tiles. Your goal is to make
words of the same length as the tile set on the right. For example, if the
tile set on the right is three units wide, you must make three-letter words.
This changes with difficulty, of course.

The main problem is that you're only allowed to use three tiles on each side of
your rack at the start. As you use them up, you'll be allowed to use the one
next to it. Example:

B A F R F C T
A C D W R F A
X P O S E R T

Given a three-letter word game, I can use the "B", "A", and "X" on the left,
and the "T", "A", and "T" on the right. If I wanted to go deeper into my rack
somewhat, using the word "ACT" would work by taking away the "A" and "C" on the
left.

However, you're prime goal is to remove all of your tiles and make words of the
proper length. A good tip is to conserve vowels. A minimum of one is required
for any word in the English language, generally, if you count "Y". Given that
you are almost four times more likely to get consonants, making words like
"ARIA" is inefficient.

The problem with this whole game is that you have a limited number of screw-ups
before losing, and you only get a few hints.

Here is an example four-letter-word game I played:
             _
L O R M R E | PULL
P U L N A A |_____|\ PINE
R C N E N P | |/ INTO
P A H T I I _| HARM
                        EARN
                        CARP

--------------------
Word Hat - Free Play
--------------------

~~ Number of Letters: How long are words?
~~ Vocabulary : ???
~~ Hint : Use hints?
~~ Plurals : Use pluralized words?
~~ Music : Which music track do you want to use?

Nothing more than Challenge Play, but for fun and without the stress of messing
up.

----------------------
Word Hat - Timed Turns
----------------------

~~ Number of Letters: How long are words?
~~ Vocabulary : ???
~~ Hint : Use hints?
~~ Plurals : Use pluralized words?
~~ Music : Which music track do you want to use?

Based on Challenge Play, it is basically where many people get to swap the
console back-and-forth after completing a round. This is beyond two people,
mind you, so bring some friends!

Basically, you'll each play the same tiles and see who can finish the fastest.
After each round, you can opt for a new tileset.

---------------------
Word Zap - Any Letter
---------------------

~~ Difficulty: How hard the computer is, from one to five (one is easy).
~~ Vocabulary: ???
~~ Plurals : Allow pluralized words?
~~ Music : Which music track to use?

In this game, you'll have a set of tiles and be allowed to make words that are
three, four, or five letters long. You must make seven words to win. Once you
have the tiles you desire in the word, press the A Button on a blank space; if
it is a word, you'll fill in the tiles in your rack and the word on the right
will remain.

However, your opponent will also be doing the same with the same tileset. If he
manages to make the seven words, he wins.

Note that sometimes words are zapped (taken away). The conditions behind this
are unknown, but you basically have to make another word. My guess is when you
make the same word as the opponent and it nullifies both entries.

An example game:
         _
C R T I |___|\ SKIRT KIT STIR RUCK
K Z U S _| |/ ICTUS ITS RUST

----------------------
Word Zap - Next Letter
----------------------

~~ Difficulty: How hard the computer is, from one to five (one is easy).
~~ Vocabulary: ???
~~ Plurals : Allow pluralized words?
~~ Music : Which music track to use?

This game is more like a mix of Word Hat and Word Zap (any letter). You begin
with an open tile rack of twelve letters. You can choose any of those twelve
but, after one, you have to make them in a continuous streak with the ones
next to them. The words can be three to five letters long and are confirmed by
pressing the A Button on a white tile.

I think an example game might help. Remember, the first letter of each word is
where you start before you end up having to do the streak.
           _
P E R E Y | ERE STEW STYE
A X W T S |> PER HAY
H Y A Y U _| APE PEA
