Version 1.0 - 18/4/2003 ----------------------- The first version of the FAQ, with everything completed. =============================================================================== 2. WHAT ARE TM'S AND HM'S? =============================================================================== As you know, Pokemon learn moves in battle by leveling up. There is another way that the Pokemon can learn moves, of which at any level at any time - using a TM. This will make it learn a move of which it would never learn anyway, or would learn sooner. Not all Pokemon can learn all the TM's, and is usually linked to the Pokemon type and the TM Type. Once a TM has been used once, you cannot use it again, and the move learnt from a TM can be overwritten with moves learnt by another TM or by levelling up. HM's are the same as TM's essentially but with some differences. For one, HM's are rare and cannot be bought and must be found during the adventure. Because of this, there are much less HM's than there are TM's in the game. HM's can be used in battle, and can be used out of battle in the adventure and are needed at one point or another. They can be used as many times as you wish, BUT cannot be deleted (unless you trade it to Pokemon Gold, Silver or Crystal and delete it on that game pak). =============================================================================== 3.
