Controls
--------

Fighting moves will be discussed soon enough. These are quick generalizations:

~~ D-Pad        : Move around (Left/Right); go to background (Up); go to
                  foreground (Down); used for attacking; move menu cursors.
~~ A Button     : Used in attacking.
~~ B Button     : Used in attacking.
~~ Start Button : Pause/unpause.
~~ Select Button: N/A.
~~ L/R Buttons  : These only have functions on the GBA SP and GameBoy Player
                  ways of playing the game. They will widen/narrow the screen,
                  respectively. Otherwise, N/A.

There also is a soft reset combination that lets you return to the title
screen - A+B+Start+Select.

Fighting in itself is a bit more specific. Slightly.

~~ A: Use right-hand weapon. Hold for repeated hits. Hits the left arm.
~~ B: Use left-hand weapon. Hold for repeated hits. Hits the right arm.
~~ A + B: A quick one-two. Hold for repeated usage. Hits both arms.

~~ Up + A: Uppercut with right-hand weapon. Hits the body.
~~ Up + B: Uppercut with left-hand weapon. Hits the body.
~~ Up + A + B: Two-hit uppercut. Hold for repeated usage. Hits the body.

~~ Down (quick double-tap): Duck.
~~ Down (quick double-tap) + A: Attack with right-hand weapon at the legs.
~~ Down (quick double-tap) + B: Attack with left-hand weapon at the legs.
~~ Down (quick double-tap) + A + B: A one-two combo at the legs.

~~ Down (quick double-tap) + Up + A: Low uppercut (left arm). Hits left arm.
~~ Down (quick double-tap) + Up + B: Low uppercut (right arm). Hits right arm.
~~ Down (quick double-tap) + Up + A + B: Two-hit low uppercut. Hits both arms.

~~ A or B when far away: Fire a projectile missile.

Note that these assume your opponent is standing. If they are ducking, but you
are not, uppercuts should be ineffective, normal hits hit the body, and low
hits hit the arms. If you are ducking as well as them, everything is normal for
those you can use (the upper two groups), but the others aren't available.

Playing the Game
----------------

You'll begin your game by selecting your difficulty: Easy, Medium, or Hard.
This notably will determine the parts your robot starts with, but also have a
slight effect on the CPU difficulty.

After that, start your first match.

At the bottom, you'll see everyone's health gauges for their various parts.
The Body is your actual HP - if it hits zero, the robot explodes, and that
person shall lose. The Arms are your short-range weapons - if they hit zero,
that weapon cannot be used. Note that those don't affect your long-range
missile that you always have.

And the Legs are obvious, in that you'll be no longer able to move whenever you
lose them. The state of each will carry over from fight to fight.

During the fight, at the top, you'll find your score and your opponents: these
go up as you hit each other. Below that is a three-minute timer. If you and
your opponent both fail to empty each other's Body health in three minutes,
then, at the end of the time, the one with the higher score will win, if the
score is being used. (Sometimes it is not.)

As for the fight itself, it is always a flat surface. There is a foreground and
a background, which you'll be in if you press Down or Up, respectively. To hit
an enemy, you must be in the same "-ground" as them.

During the fight, there is no real strategy. I personally prefer the idea of
going all-out on them: rapidly smash A and B -- not hold, since you won't be
allowed to move -- while holding Right or Left on the D-Pad to run into them.
This will soon empty their Arms' health, preventing most attacks if I stay
close. Then I can normally wait out the timer, if I wish. But since they won't
be attacking, I always try for those few extra credits by chasing them down and
throwing in a crapload of uppercuts until their Body health empties. If I fail
in that, I'm okay, since I usually have a higher score by now anyways.

After the fight, you'll pretty much be able to repeat this over and over again.
You'll receive some credits and, if you wish, can "Improve" your robot. See the
below section for further details. You will then need to go the next fight.

The game is over when you have lost a match. Your score will be told and that
will be it.

Robot Parts/Improvements
------------------------

There are various improvements you can make to your fighting robot by earning
credits. These credits are earned by winning fights. You'll get more by winning
fights through destroying the opponent rather than just having a higher score at
the end of three minutes.

Some equipment is available when you start, depending on the difficulty you
have chosen to play on. The equipment is therefore already bought (as well as
any equipment above it on the lists). If you want to switch, go to the Improve
menu before a match. All things, even bought, will mention a price, so ignore
that for the items you already know you have.
