Here is a cheat. It gets you 50 coins each time you use it.In level section with a hippo on the 1st level, walk off the edge into the water. Then swim to left.If you swim far enough you will get a bag of 50 coins.Then pause the game.Press select.You should return to the map.Keep doin it for more coins.
