Question for Pokemon Yellow

I defeated Misty, but I didn't ever get HM01 (cut), so wanted to hear if anyone knows a way to get it now, cus I'm stuck atm.

HM01 (Cut) can be obtained from one of the Captains on the S.S. Anne.

Go on the SS Anne and the go to the staircase on the left.Then when you reach to the second floor, go down but don't take the stairs there but go to the right. Then when you reach to the end of the corridor gary will come and defeat him and climb the stairs there. You will reach the captain and he will give you HM 01
