Question for Pokemon Silver

I have an itemfinder on my Pokemon Silver game, but I have no idea how to use it! If it says "Yes, itemfinder is responding!" after I click the itemfinder button in my pack, I think I'm supposed to find something, but it doesn't tell me where "it" is or how to get it! This is a trouble in my game, considering I got into Kanto in the game, and I need the itemfinder for several important parts of the game!!

Don't worry, it's really not that complicated. When the itemfinder indicates there is an item nearby don't move around too much. What it means when it says that is that it is somewhere on the screen in your current position. Basically, you'll just have to search around in the grass or a rock or in the water. The easiest way I do it is by pausing after each step and pressing the A button.

When you use the itemfinder, yuor person will then face in the direction of the object. Go five steps in that direction. Repeat until it says there is something underfoot. Then move 1 step and press a on that patch
