As far as I can remember you can't clone Pokemon here in this game. Only in G/C/S and Emerald.

I think what you do is you have your pokemon in your party. You save your game, preferably in the pokemon center. Then you open bill's PC and deposit that pokemon. Then save the game, but while it is saving, turn it off. This will result in a pokemon in the storage and in your party. It also clones any items they are holding.

This is pokemon red, where pokemon have no held items. Cloning in pokemon red requires 2 systems. Initiate a trade between 2 copies and send over 1 pokemon. Afterwards before the 2nd pokemon is sent, disrupt the connection. The first pokemon will be on both games and the 2nd pokemon will be no more. (It will be deleted)

I think you have to beat the Elite Four and go to one of those islands.then you take your Pokemon to a nursery or put them in a breeding crate.

skyline specialist answered:

No you can't clone your Pokemon here

Basthanszic answered:

Nooblets you CAN (!!) clone Pokemon in red. You use the same method for yellow and blu also:
1. Put the Pokemon you want to clone in a pc box
2. Exit the pc
3. Save
4. When it asks you to save, say yes
5. When it says Now saving, turn it off (;D)
6. Turn on you're game. Check you're party and then the box. I havent played in ages so it might not work.
When it saves give it a second then turn off; don't do it immediately.

If you give a Pokemon an item eg Masterball you can clone that to I think
Test it frst with a weedle or something crappy to make sure it works; don't try o clone your masterball then it turns out to f**k up your game.
Happy Cloning!

Hang on; you tried a cloning method that doesn't work, it erased your game so now you have to start it all over again and that's a bad thing because?

It can work, but it's risky. If you get the timing off, you can lose the pokemon or your save file. But if you get the timing JUST right, it does work.

I don't appreciate being called a nooblet when the one doing the calling doesn't know Pokemon can't hold items in Red.

The saving tone is how you time when you turn it off. When the last tone strikes turn it off. Duh duh duh dun du-du off.
Guest answered:

I don't know how old this post is. Cloning was possible in R/B/Y BECAUSE of interuptions in the save process. There is a lot of online literature for it nowadays on wiki.

Guest answered:

You can NOT clone Pokemon on red/blue/ýellew, because there is no "move pokemon" option, only deposit and withdraw. Therefore your party Pokemon and box Pokemon can't be viewed in one menu, so the transision is directly done, and not still in progres when you turn off the power halfway the saving proces. I've just tried it, it doesnt work.
Alas

Of course you can clone in RBY you set up a trade and turn off the gameboy of the pokemon you want to keep just before it says trade successful. Viola, 2 of the same pokemon (other pokemon is lost)
Guest said: 18th Mar 2014 | REPORT
So get anothing gameboy and a link cable and do it yourself.

once me and my friend were trading, and his game shut off mid trade and we ended up accidentally cloning a weezing
Guest said: 17th Oct 2014 | REPORT
Actually you can clone the same way as GSC, but its harder cause when you select the box you have to turn off the game right away.
Pandabear6812 answered:

Most complicated way ever but is possible but not through rby you have to Trade your Pokemon to gsc then clone them thee and without changing the Pokemon moves give one back to ryb no items on the Pokemon and it is a way to get unattainable Pokemon in your gold silver crystal (ie mewtwo) and not loose them.

That's how I'd do it.
Guest answered:

I did this for years and also just now (cloning Mew) it works fine for me on red. I have found it only erases the Pokemon or (and most commonly) puts it back in my party if I get the timing wrong.

If I remember correctly you have to deposit the pokemon to be cloned in to an empty box, then switch boxes again and turn off in the middle of saving. It works because I remember cloning my charizard 6 times

You're correct
Guest answered:

There is actually definitely a way to do it in R/B, not too sure if it works in Yellow, but it probably does, just assuming, bc I have Red AND Blue, two GBAs, and a link cable. It works by maniulating the saving processes during a trade, and turning it off at the right time. But I haven't done it since like 2005, so idk... But I DID perform it successfully, and also using the Mew Glitch to duplicate my Mew, so now, I have 5 Mews still XD! So, I'd experiment with it that way, and I've messed it up a couple of times, yeah, but it does NOT erase your save file. At worst, it'll delete both Pokemon in the trade. So I'd practice with it at first with a useless Pokemon, like Magikarp, or something. But you can look on this Bulbapedia link for more information! Thanks! http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Cloning_glitches#Trading_method
