I'm not sure how to get a gold magikarp!
Do you need a red gyarados or something?
I would really appreciate it if someone answered.
P.S.: Super cheats rocks!!!

One way to get a golden magicarp is by pure luck. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to find one. I was lucky enough to find a shiny Butterfree in Goldenrod's Park. Or you could use the gameshark code 010719D1 to always fight shiny pokemon. This should allow you to catch a golden magicarp.
Um...it can be luck but when I looked it up it said to mate a red Gyarados and a blue one together
i think that you can get it as a baby of red and blue gyrados
You guys aren't wrong, shiny pokemon are incredibly rare. I saw a shiny weedle once on my old silver and I've never seen another shiny since (excluding red gyarados obviously) and I've played all the games since then.
Your best bet would be to try breeding red gyarados together with a blue one, just get 5 eggs and run around with them and do it until a gold one hatches. it'll probably take forever but it's worth a shot :P
Using Gameshark, action replay or any other cheat cartridges on games carry a risk of corrupting the save file.
Creating a shiny or any other pokemon artificially can activate the BAD EGG glitch which I think only effects ruby/sapphire upwards. Look it up, it's freaky o.o
Any Pokémon of a different color then normal in the games is called a shiny Pokémon. It is a random encounter and a random chance with no way to increase it unless you are playing Generation V or later. The chances of finding a shiny Pokémon are ~1/8000 (less then). Finding a shiny Magikarp would be useless since Magikarp itself is useless and will only matter when it evolves into a Gyrados, of which shiny Gyrados are red and there is a guarnteed encounter with the red Gyrados.
You have to catch as many magikarp as you can on the map they look orange it's only when you click it to begin catch you see it's yellow/gold chances though are 1/8000 but I caught 1 so good luck it was only 10cp
