Question for Pokemon Crystal

I play Pokemon crystal at my pc, with gameboy emulator. I have a haunter at lvl 38, but I can't trade so he will never become a gengar... Does someone know how I can evolve him into a gengar?

I HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH FIRERED. I PLAY THESE GAMES WITH VBA, AND I USUALLY TRY TO AVOID USING CHEATS. HOWEVER, WHEN I WAS PLAYING FIRERED I NEEDED AN EARLY PSYCHIC, AND ALAKAZAM WAS MY ONLY CHOICE. I HAD AN EMULATOR SO I COULDN'T TRADE A KADABRA (OR SO I THOUGHT) THERE IS A CERTAIN EMULATOR THAT GIVES YOU 2 GBA EMU's SPECIFICALLY MADE FOR TRADING PURPOSES. I BELIEVE IT'S CALLED VBALINK! Or GBALINK! BUT THAT'S WHAT I USED AND IT WORKS GREAT. (NOTE: You might need to check on youtube, "How to trade Pokemon with a VBA" That's what I did and that's how I found vbalink, but there is further info about what you need to do to trade. IE, you'll need to copy your save file and rename it from .SAV to .SA1/.SA2)

VBALink only works for games with the wireless adapter that means fr lg and emerald so i i have tried it too :(
so dont try it
