If you manage to get to level 8 you can take advantage of a neat little trick to build up as many lives as you require. You need to enter the bonus stage and get a 1-Up symbol, then come out and then just re-enter again and grab another. You can keep doing this as mnay times as you like.
Here is a good cheat if you are stuck the 2nd level.
When you are at the rope swinging part of the level on the first tree platform just walk right of the platform and wait for a second and you will be in a secret level.
