Added:

When the base game launched back in November 2013 the structure of the Championship Races for each of the Leagues and their Events was not really carved in stone -- but we had no way of knowing that...

The addition of new Tracks -- first the Road America and later Long Beach (and we expect others soon) -- had the effect of changing the Championship structure.

If you have been playing since release and the new Tracks were applied to your game, you will notice that the new tracks may be inserted in the Championship Series and that they are marked as Gold Medal even though you have not actually raced them. You do NOT have a Gold Medal on those tracks regardless of what the game says.

You will need to race those Tracks in order to actually get the Gold Medal that the game says you have - and in particular you will need to race them if you want to unlock the related Achievements -- for example there is an Achievement for getting Gold Medals on the Long Beach tracks you will not have credit for if you don't race it!

Common sense and good advice suggests that whenever new Tracks are added to the game, if those tracks appear in the Championship race structure for a League, you should make it a point to race that race so that you properly obtain Gold in it.
