Last Updated:

This is basically your next event in the tutorial -- the car is provided for you (a 1970 Mustang) and your opponent is a P-51 Mustang Fighter Plane! The prize for winning this event is $5000 and you get to KEEP the Mustang!

Set the GPS for the route to the event and then drive there and enter it.

This really is not that difficult of a race as the plane has to turn much wider circles to hit the poles so basically it comes down to a race against yourself - as in making as few mistakes as possible! Well that and not letting the close proximity of the plane rattle you when you hit the marker poles (which I admit I did let happen to me a few times - but hey it is a surprise when that thing rattles overhead!).

When you win -- you did win, right? -- you will get the prize plus bonus money which if you left the settings as default should be $7000 plus the '70 Mustang. Well done you!

You can get in the Mustang now or let it go to your garage - choice is yours. I stuck with the VW myself since it is the starter and I am more interested in getting through the tutorial and mastering it first.

This showcase event is your chance to add a new car to your collection and win some glory!

Set the GPS Route back to the Horizon Site and then drive there -- when you reach the site you will pass the various options that are still locked and reach (and enter) Race Central. See Alice to get your first (Yellow) Wristband and you basically complete the main portion of the Tutorial.

Alice will tell you about the race and its driver population -- you already learned about popularity and how to improve it (near-misses, speed, trading paint, burn-outs, and other skill-based show-off moves) and you now know your goal is to move up through the ranks in popularity as well as additional colored Wristbands which you get by winning races.

After the CS ends you unlock the Achievement “A Wristed Development” (20G) You received your Yellow Wristband.

Alice then explains that you have been given some money and you need to go to the Auto Show and buy an off-road capable all-wheel drive vehicle for the next race (which requires that).

You have a choice -- the 2011 Subaru ($32K) and the 2008 Mitsubishi ($29K) -- pick which one you like best.

Set the color you want and then confirm you are buying that car and you will then unlock the Achievement “Take Her for a Spin!” (15G) You bought a car from the Autoshow. Now take her for a spin!

Some Extra G for the Taking

At this point you are in the seat of your new car and, theoretically anyway, you are ready to go -- however with just some minimal effort on your part you easily have an opportunity to pick up some extra G right here at the Horizon Hub! So why not take advantage of it?

To pick up some extra G right here, right now, just do the following tasks:

(1) Visit the Garage: Just around the circle is the Garage where Dax is waiting for you and, the first time that you pay him a visit (that is you drive up and enter the Garage by hitting 'X') is eager to grant you the loyalty rewards that you have coming to you for your past play in Forza Motorsport 3 and Forza Motorsport 4.

When you enter the Garage that first time and you are awarded the number of cars that is commensurate with your accomplishments in either or both of those games, you will also unlock the Achievement "May The Forza Be With You" (10G) You received Free Cars for being a loyal Forza fan!

(2) The Paint Shop: The next destination on the Horizon Loop is the Paint Shop, where you can create custom vinyl designs as well as custom paint jobs for your rides.

For the purpose of this Achievement simply make a very basic Vinyl (that should take all of five minutes or less) and then save it and apply it to your car to unlock the Achievement "Rave Paint" (10G) You created a paint-job and your ride is looking SWEET!

(3) You know that Vinyl you made? If you did not already do so, re-enter the Paint Shop, load the design up, and then upload it to your Forza Horizon Store, setting it at a reasonable price -- say around $1K -- and then be sure to send an IM to the other members of your Racing Club telling them that you did that.

They can then enter the Horizon Store and search for your Gamertag, find your design, and purchase it! If only one (all you need is one) does that, the next time you log into the game and read your mail (thus "claiming" the money that they paid for your design from your storefront) you will unlock the Achievement "Wheelin' 'n Dealin'" (10G) You sold something via your Storefront. KERCHING!

(4) Lastly the Loop: You have now paid a visit to Race Central, the Garage, and the Paint Shop. Now just pop into the other three destinations and you will unlock the Achievement "Been There, Done That!" (10G) You've fully explored the Horizon Festival Loop.

Outside of the Loop

After you depart from the Horizon Loop do a little free-roam driving and you will find that when you pull in behind any of the Festival Racers you are given the opportunity to race them.

You can distinguish them from regular drivers by the round white symbol on the radar map that represent them and the fact that they have a name and you get the prompt to race them when you pull in behind them, just so you know.

Challenging them under these conditions initiates an impromptu point-to-point race with them! So simply challenge -- and beat -- ten of them.

When you win the 10th race you will unlock the Achievement "Close Encounters" (20G) You've challenged and beaten 10 festival racers on the spot. So hey, well done you!

With that Achievement out of the way and, assuming you did not have the game difficulty set to hard (if it was you already unlocked this with your first race but still) temporarily set the difficulty to hard and then challenge and race a competitor so that when you win you unlock the Achievement "Hard Driving" (10G) You finished in first place on HARD? Nice. You can also do that during a regular Festival Race if you like.

This nicely wraps up your opportunities for extra G (for now). Later there will be others and of course there are the Online Achievements you can unlock (those are covered elsewhere in this guide).
