Buildings
It is wise to chose the buildings most suited to and effective for your base. So this means that you should chose the building that has the best Supplies per slot. For example a goat farm from the iron age does produce more in general than a shoe maker from the Early age, Yet the goat farm is big and has a lesser S.P.S. Than the shoe make. Thus making the shoe maker a better option than goat farms because it is more compact.

To get the most out of your base you want to have an efficient layout, so most buildings need roads and roads take up a lot of space. In order to eliminate the need for useless roads you have to expand in columns or rows. This means to create a continuous line through your base. This method saves you up to four slots in your build area.
