Introduction

Final Fantasy X is the first Final Fantasy game for the Playstation 2. The story starts out in a city called Zanarkand. The main character is Tidus. He is a star blitzball player. Blitzball is a sport like soccer, only it is underwater. One day, Zanarkand is attacked by a large fiend called Sin. Tidus gets sucked by Sin, and ends up in a new world. Or so he thinks. In reality, he was teleported one thousand years into the future. His hometown, Zanarkand, is no more. The whole game revolves around Tidus trying to get back to his own time. However, eventually Tidus' intentions start to change as he befriends the people of this new world.

Graphics

There is no doubt that Final Fantasy X has excellent graphics. The graphics are especially great in the many cutscenes throughout the story. There are three stages of graphics in Final Fantasy X. There are the "ok" graphics, or battle graphics, that the player sees the most. This is the worst graphics in the game, but these graphics still surpass many other games. There are also "good" graphics, mainly displayed in the less stunning cutscenes. Though not too much better than battle graphics, the features of the characters and scenery are ver realistic. Finally, there is the "amazing" graphics of the 50+ cutscenes in the game. These are the high-quality graphics seen in many Final Fantasy games. Overall, the graphics are stunning.

Sound

Final Fantasy X has some decent music. Many wonderful songs are played in every town, and display the mood of the situtation. Voices are also well made, each voice fitting the corresponding character, as if the voice actors looked like the videogame character. However, Final Fantasy X's one flaw in music is the lack of the classic Final Fantasy Music. The only classic Final Fantasy Music is the fanfare at the end of a battle. Many Final Fantasy devotees will miss the tunes of old. Nonetheless, the music in Final Fantasy X is still something to enjoy.

Gameplay

Final Fantasy X has an amazing storyline. It also featured a unique turn-based battle system, something not seen in any previous Final Fantasy game. Controls are fairly basic, so any gamer can play this game with ease. Final Fantasy X also has a new level system. No longer do characters gain EXP and grow levels. Final Fantasy X introduces the Sphere Grid System, where players gain Sphere Levels, to enhance certain stats. This new system gives players more control on what stats they want to raise. It is also responsible for the acquisition of abilities and magic. The concept may sound confusing, but the system itself is a big boost for the game.

Lastability

Final Fantasy X will last any gamer for a long time. There are numerous bosses and many secrets hidden in the game. This game isn't one of those where anyone can just pick it up and beat it in two days. This game provides a challenging, yet fun experience. With the ability to play blitzball, players will work to try to be number one in this fun sport. There are also secret weapons, called Celestial Weapons, that will annoy players as they try to find them to unlock their hidden power. Without a doubt, this is a long game.

Overall

I would have to say this game gets a nine out of ten, but I still recommend this game to any gamer, especially pro gamers and fans of the Final Fantasy series. Final Fantasy X is sure to bring some life to gamers who wish to have some spark back in their gaming experience. This game also has a sequel, Final Fantasy X-2, which should give gamers even more reason to play this game. With unending twists, and powerful bosses, this game is sure to brign the ultimate gaming experinece to the Playstation 2.

Final Score: 86%
