Known Bugs

Thank you for printing this page from www.SuperCheats.com. Remember to come back to check for updates to this guide and much more content for Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff

We've been getting a fair amount of bug reports and requests for the fixes for same - which you know is odd when you stop to consider that we don't actually have access to the game source code or anything... But that will NOT stop your brave and helpful SuperCheats Bullpen Staff from chronicling said bugs and, when we know them, sharing the fixes!

Known Bugs in Quest for Stuff

The following are the bugs we know about - so far - many of which only recently appeared as the apparent result of the most recent mega-event - Quahog Comic-Con. Now we are not saying that the mega-event had something to do with the bugs or anything... Or are we?

1. Missing Buildings

Possibly the most commonly reported QfS Bug in the past month is the Missing Buildings Bug.

The disappearing Buildings bug appears to have two possible events that can cause it - either (1) the building simply disappears from your Quahog, or (2) you placed it in your inventory while working on the betterment of your Quahog and it then disappeared from THERE.

Either way having Buildings just up and go away all on their own is a rather disturbing sort of event - after all it is not in the nature of buildings to simply toddle on off on walkabout, right?

Well it turns out that this really was a problem - we say WAS because the wizards over at Tiny Co. say that they not only became aware of the issue, but actually took steps to stop those bad Buildings from wandering off! The fix is in as it were, so you should no longer be experiencing this particular bug as of Update 1.2.

IF you ARE still experiencing this one, the wizards at Tiny Co. have asked US to ask YOU to be sure that you submit an official help request via their site, said request to include the following particular information: The words "Missing Building" as part of the subject line. The details about the bug - specifically what building, where it was before it went missing, when it went missing, a recent photo of the missing building, and a list of any other Buildings you think your building might have been playing with at the time that it went missing.

Guide Image

Considering that in a majority of cases like this Buildings go missing as part of custodial interference, there is a good chance that your ex-bf/gf has your building and... Just kidding... Seriously tho, they need most of that information to help you so be sure to include it.

2. Missing Coins and/or Premium Currency

The second most common bug reported in the last month is bugs relating to missing money - either Coins or Clams - and hey, that is really a very frustrating thing to have happen, we totally feel your pain. It is especially among the more frustrating because of the importance of these resources recently in their application to the land expansion and new Buildings stuff.

What you need to be aware of tho is that this bug is not like what you would maybe think - it is not money that you have banked going missing - it is money (and Clams) that fail to appear when they should - like when you are collecting rent, the prizes from missions and quests, and other tasks, and most frequently, when visiting the Quahog of a neighbor!

So if you should experience this sort of bug, the folks at Tiny Co. would appreciate you letting them know about it, and when you do please include the words "Missing Money" as part of the subject line, and provide as much detail as you can with respect to the event.

At a minimum you should share where it happened, when it happened, and if it has happened before. Remember Questors, they can only fix this stuff if they know about it and have all the details!

3. Missing Characters

Now you would think that this one would be at the top of the list - but it seems that it happens a LOT less often than, say, missing Buildings. Which is why it is not.

Having a character go missing on you can be a bloody disaster - particularly when you need that character for the upcoming missions and quests.

It is not just Characters either - sometimes it is Outfits FOR the characters as well. You may have noticed that we did not include the RoboCop Outfit missions in our coverage of the Comic-Con event. The reason for that is that we were one of the gamers who experienced the major malfunction in which that Quest line failed to function properly - and then Tiny Co's wizards removed it from the event, so after that it was a mute point.

But it is also a great example of how things sometimes go wrong. And another chance for us to point out to you that if you fail to share the details when it happens to YOU, well then you cannot legitimately complain when the fix is not achieved quickly enough!

Guide Image

So once again you need to Report this sort of bug promptly. When you do, be sure that the subject line includes the words “Missing Character Outfit” or “Missing Character” and provide as much detail as you can pertaining to your bug event.

4. Game Save Bugs

While this is a popular bug issue that a lot of players have experienced, a lot of the time it is not actually a bug at all but the game working the way it was intended to. So before we get to the actual bugs part of this, let's talk about the bits that are NOT bugs...

The way that QfS is structured, game saves are automatic BUT they will ONLY happen if one or more of the following conditions are met:

  • You have the game attached to your Facebook Account

  • You have the game attached to your Google Plus Account

You can verify that connectivity by tapping on the Grid-Shaped Menu Icon located at the bottom left-handish side of your game play screen. This will open the Main Menu Window. From there, tap the Account Info button and you will open the Account Info Window - which is just where you want to be.

Basically how this works is very simple - you have two choices: Facebook, or Google Plus. IF you have connected your game to one or the other, what you will see when you open this window is one of the icons saying Log Out of (service) while the other says Sign Up for (the service).

As long as one says you can Log Out that means your game is connected to THAT service, and that means your game is regularly saving your Progress. If on the other hand BOTH say to Sign Up then your game is NOT connected to one of them, and that means you have NO SAVE for that game! And really you want to have a save, as otherwise you are potentially going to have problems.

When you think about this connecting your game to one of the services that makes the saves makes sense and especially if you are spending real-world money in this game! So decide which you want to use then use it. And that brings us to the second issue that is often mistaken for a bug...

You cannot rest your game.

No, seriously. You can't. That is a feature of the game design, not a bug. Once you have connected your game to one of these accounts, that is it - it is connected to it forever. That means that if you delete and re-install QfS the moment you log into that service your old game save will be applied to your new game, and you are back in business.

Now that is great for when something goes wrong and you are forced to reinstall, but not so great if you were actually intending to start over because, hey, you can't.

In fact the ONLY way to really start over is to either (1) create a different account in order to use THAT as your save and connection, or (2) go to Tiny Co and ASK them to sever the link between your connected account and the game.

In theory you can actually do the latter, though obviously the former is easier - and faster. Word on the street is that requests to Tiny Co to reset or sever the link between a game and Facebook / Google is running at around six weeks.

Guide Image

Now to the actual bugs...

The only account save related bug that we have heard of that is actually a bug is Corrupted Saves. It is rare. It is majorly disappointing, but it happens.

You are rolling along playing QfS and something bad happens. You need to reinstall. You do - but when you then connect your new installation to the save source, you are shown a screen that says uh-uh, sorry, your save is not whole or it is corrupt and we can not restore your game.

OK that sucks for a number of reasons, not the least of which being you just lost all of your Progress. And then there is the question of the real-world money you spent - for some Questors that adds up in the thousands of dollars!

So what do you do? Well, you don't get angry and scream. Or you do but only for a little while, then you get over it.

You need to contact Tiny Co immediately and make them aware of the situation, then work with them on the long and painful process of recovery. Here is what we know they WILL do - thanks to having chatted about the matter with some gamers who had it happen to them...

Tony Co. will replace the resources you lost - that is to say if you bought $500 worth of Clams or Coins over the course of your game play prior to the disaster, they will replace that lost loot to your new game. If you had 2 million coin at the time of the disaster, they will replace that (within reason).

What they won't do - and it sucks it really does - is replace event-related objects or Characters that you did not pay for. The reason for that is simply that they have no way of knowing which events you did and how far you got in them. If there is a record, say, of you buying Nathan Fillion, they will restore him to your Quahog, but unless you have some way to prove you progressed all the way through the event and unlocked Sulu - we mean George - chances are you are not going to get him added into your game.

Disasters like this suck, but chances are the source of the disaster was not Tiny Co. So it would be an idea not to be abusive or angry at them. Being angry in general is OK, just don't take it out on them. Or us. Yeah, definitely do not yell at us.

Other Bugs

There are other known bugs - and if they rise to the point that they become a common problem we will cover them here. Otherwise they get to stay discretely hidden in those dark moist places bugs like to hide because that is what bugs do. Until you stomp on them.

That said, we hope you will take to heart our advice and promptly share all the info you have with Tiny Co in terms of reporting and dealing with any bugs in the game you do experience, since doing that makes for a better game play experience for all of us.

I'm having a problem with Family Guy quest for stuff. I use my desktop windows 8.1 after district 8 It stop giving me quests, costumes and characters. It's been about 2 months I'm already in level 44 and almost finishing. I bought all the area (land), building and decorations besides district 9. Almost all the character are maxed out and collected over 400,000 coins. I never receive the pyramid and mummy and human Rupert quest and any seasonal quest. I'm also supposed to get Stewies blimp the last quest I got is jailhouse Meg. I'm tired of waiting for district 9 or any type of quest I'm getting bored with this game. I need some support so, this game can continue. Thank You, Alex
