Thoroughbred World Introduction

by

Thoroughbred World is a Facebook game at Facebook.com/ThoroughbredWorld

In this social game, player receive a Thoroughbred foal to care for, raise, and eventually train as a champion racer, to race against their Facebook friends!

Helping Out
This is the first mission. You’re at Neighbor Nancy’s farm, and she’s noticed your interest in Thoroughbreds! She’d like you to pick one of her Thoroughbreds and groom it. To do so, just click on any of her horses, and select the lit Grooming icon from the radial menu.
This will bring up the stable screen, where you’ll be able to groom the horse. Use the brush, the hoof pick and the comb to care for your horse. Click on the brush, and drag the brush over the horse’s fur. Then use the hoof pick on all four hooves. Finally, select the comb and use it on the horse’s mane and tail. Each task is done when the associated meter, under the grooming tool, is full.
Remember, groomed horses are happier and healthier, and they’re less likely to be injured in training, so take time to groom your horses when you get your own Thoroughbreds!

Training Technique
Now Neighbor Nancy would like you to help train one of her Thoroughbreds in Agility. To do so, just click on any of her horses, and select the lit Training icon from the radial menu.
The next screen shows you the four important skills, Agility, Balance, Stamina and Speed, that lead to four training minigames. Select Agility to do what Nancy needs.
For the Agility course, the horse is running on a track, and needs you to move the mouse right and left to avoid the barrels. When you do well in a training minigame, your horse can get an increase in that skill! This mission completes when you complete the Agility course.

A Place To Play
Neighbor Nancy comes over to help you set up your new Thoroughbred Farm. Place the paddock first.
An aspiring Thoroughbred owner -- like you -- has already got one in your inventory. So open your inventory by clicking the icon of a chest on the bottom right, and place that paddock anywhere you like on your new farm!
Now Nancy offers you a Thoroughbred Foal from her farm. Pick the color of your new horse by clicking the picture, and give it a name. Thoroughbred breeders often name a foal by combining the names of the foal’s sire and dam, but of course you can name your new foal anything you’d like.
Congratulations on your first Thoroughbred! Welcome to the club!

A Foal Home
Your new foal can’t live in the paddock all the time, so you’ll need a barn, too. Buy one by visiting the Tack Shop, from the icon of a saddle on the bottom right, and selecting the Little Red Barn, from the leftmost space in the Tack Shop. Place it anywhere on your farm, just like you did with the Paddock.
This task is finished when construction finishes.

Your Farmhouse
You’ll need a place to live, too, but you’ve already got a nice farmhouse in your Inventory. Open your Inventory by clicking the icon of a chest on the bottom right, and find the farmhouse under Buildings. Then place your farmhouse anywhere you like on your new farm!
Neighbor Nancy thinks your farm needs a name. You can call it anything you like!

Show You Care
The local vet drops by your new farm to show you how to look after your new foal. He’d like you to look after your new foal, by feeding him, brushing him, exercising him, and of course, showing your foal some affection.
You’ve probably noticed the care clover, those four buttons in the middle of your screen. Click on each one to bring it from red, to orange, to yellow, to a nice, healthy green. Your Thoroughbred is happiest and healthiest when his needs for exercise and affection are met, so look after him by keeping all four care buttons green.
This tasks is completed when the care clover is all green.

It’s A Sign
Neighbor Nancy thinks you should have a sign to display your farm’s new name.
Visit the Tack Shop with the icon of a saddle on the bottom right, then look under Decorations, the middle tab, to find a sign. Place your new sign on your farm to complete this task. This task completes when construction ends.

Dress it Up!
Neighbor Nancy suggests you decorate your farm, so visit the Tack Shop (that’s with the icon of a saddle, on the bottom right of your screen) then look under Decorations, the middle tab. Purchase any three items, and place them artistically around your farm to complete this task. Use the arrows to find more decorations, and really make your farm unique!

A Horse Trainer
You’re going to need a trainer for your foal, but Neighbor Nancy First, you’ll need a trainer’s office. Find one by visiting the Tack Shop, and looking under Buildings. Place your new Trainer’s Office anywhere on your farm, and once building is completed, click it to hire a trainer. All these trainers are very experiences with Thoroughbreds, so choose anyone you like!

Training the Young
Your new trainer knows that your foal will need a halter. Find one in the Tack Shop, under Equipment. The Tack Shop carries a lot of equipment for Thoroughbreds, so you may need to use the arrows to search for the halter. Once you find it, buy one for your foal.

Congrats! That’s Ten Tasks! You should get the Ten Tasks Trophy here.

The next missions are for training your horse’s stats. When you do well in a training minigame, your horse can get an increase in that skill!

Agility Training
Your trainer knows that Thoroughbred racers need to be very agile. You’ll need to train your foal to help him improve his Agility.
To train your horse, do just what you did to help Neighbor Nancy train her Thoroughbred. Click your foal, and select the lit Training icon from the radial menu. The next screen shows you the four important skills, Agility, Balance, Stamina and Speed, that lead to four training minigames. Select Agility to do what your trainer requests.
For the Agility course, the horse is running on a track, and needs you to move the mouse right and left to avoid the barrels. When you do well in a training minigame, your horse can get an increase in that skill! This mission completes when you complete the Agility course.

Balance Training
Your trainer knows that Thoroughbred racers need a good sense of balance to negotiate tricky turns on the racecourse. You’ll need to train your foal to help him improve his Balance.
To train your horse, click your foal, and select the Training icon from the radial menu. Select Balance from the next screen to do what your trainer requests.
For the Balance course, your horse needs to pass through the gates in a balanced and upright way. To do this, use the mouse to keep the needle in the center of the meter. Careful! Don’t let the needle slip too far to either side!
When you do well in a training minigame, your horse can get an increase in that skill! This mission completes when you complete the Balance course.

Speed Training
Everyone knows that Thoroughbred racers must be very, very fast! Your trainer will show you how help your foal to improve his Speed.
To train your horse, just click your foal, and select the Training icon from the radial menu. The next screen shows you the four important skills, Balance, Speed, Stamina and Agility, that lead to four training minigames. Select Speed to do what your trainer requests.
For the Speed course, your horse needs to run as fast as he can. Help him by using the bar on the bottom of the screen, and clicking whenever the cursor is right over the middle line. You’ll need to be pretty fast yourself!
When you do well in a training minigame, your horse can get an increase in that skill! This mission completes when you complete the Speed course.

Stamina Training
Next, your trainer will show you how help your foal improve his Stamina, so he can do well in long races.
To train your horse, just click your foal, and select the Training icon from the radial menu. The next screen shows you the four important skills, Balance, Stamina, Speed and Agility, that lead to four training minigames. Select Stamina to do what your trainer requests.
For the Stamina course, your horse needs to run on different types of terrain. When he’s running on dry ground, don’t do anything, just be ready to click and hold your mouse when he gets to wet areas. Then release when he’s running on dry ground again. The meter on the left will be green if you’re doing it well. It might flash yellow for a moment as you help your horse between wet and dry surfaces. Don’t worry, just try to time holding your mouse down with the horse’s first step onto wet ground. But don’t let that meter turn red.
This mission completes when you complete the Stamina course.

Grooming Time
The vet stops by to help you keep your Thoroughbred in top shape. This means grooming your foal. To do so, just click your foal, and select the yellow Grooming icon from the radial menu.
This will bring up the stable screen, where you’ll be able to groom your Thoroughbred foal. Use the brush, the hoof pick and the comb to care for your horse. Click on the brush, and drag the brush over the horse’s fur. Then use the hoof pick on all four hooves. Finally, select the comb and use it on the horse’s mane and tail. You’ll be able to see a difference as you care for your Thoroughbred! Each task is done when the associated meter, under the grooming tool, is full. Keep your care meters full to get the best results when you train.

Now you know how to set up your farm, care for your horse, train your horse, and prevent injuries! Keep training and then you can race against friends.
