There are two alien codes. The first is alienese- a simple coding of our alphabet eg. A symbol would mean the letter a. The second is ancient alienese- a language spoken by the niblonians. This is a really hard code, it took F.B.I. Codecrackers to crack it. One symbol can mean different letters depending on where it is in the sentence
