Introduction

This is a short review on Doom3 limited collectors edition for the xbox console.
Ive just finnished this game, been playing on and off over about a six month period. Basically the game is about the UAC research facility built on Mars is researching teleportation and in the process they make a miscalculation which opens up a portal to hell, spewing demons and un-dead creatures all over the compound. As a Marine sent in to clean up the mess you must literally fight your way to hell and back to save the entire human race. You are equiped with the standard marine issue semi-automatic pistol and a flashlight. In Doom3 the flashlight will become your best freind, in some places it is absolutley impossible to see without it, later on in the game you will come accross more weapons, such as a shotgun, machine gun, plasma rifle, BFG and of course the doom special, a chainsaw.. Doom3 also has a new group of monsters aswell as some traditional ones. Such as the zombies, imps, maggots and lost souls just to name a few. The game offers a very frightening experience, being in complete darkness hearing these creatures screaming and moving throughout the room is terrefying. Anyway I give this game a 10/10 and a must have for any FPS fan. Also game experience is better in a dark room using headphones.

Graphics

The graphics for the time are pretty good, the light shading and blood splatter is awsome, there is a point in the game where you can see imps crawling accross the glass roof of the research facility, this is done soo good and still send shivers down my spine.

Sound

Sound is one of Doom3's strong points, since the game is played in almost complete darkness you have to rely on hearing to pin point alot of the creatures throughout the game. When played with surround sound, or headphones the sound is that real it makes you feel as if you are actually there. The roars of the creatures sound so realistic and the screams of hell are absolutley terrifying.

Gameplay

The gameplay in Doom3 is absolutley amasing, although getting used to fighting in the dark may seem almost impossible at first but the key is to get used to changing between a weapon and your flashlight with the white button. The way the creatures hunt you down and lurk in the shadows is terrifying but awsome.

Lastability

The game features a multiplayer mode which keeps you playing for hours with freinds, the single player campaign mode can get slighty repeditive but still is an awsome game no matter how many times you play it. The Doom3 collectors edition also features levels from the original DOOM and Ultimate DOOM which will take you back to the dos days and keep you occupied for hours

Overall

Overall I give this game a 10/10, The gameplay and storyline is so realistic it makes you feel as if you are actually at the UAC research facility, the game is a long jurney and at the end an awsome story that leaves you hoping for a DOOM4 that is just as good.

Final Score: 90%
