Devil May Cry is one of Capcom's many babies. It is probably their second most popular series after the Resident Evil franchise. However, for whatever reason(s) they had, decided to reboot the entire Devil May Cry series.
Dante, of course, is still the main character in the story but a few other characters (and enemies) have been added to the game as well.
The graphics have been greatly improved and the characters, (especially Dante) appear more realistic than in the original Devil May Cry series.
The world itself has become more realistic as well however, I believe Capcom could of worked on the limbo mode more. It still, with much disappointment, gives more of a "Alice And Wonderland" feel than an actual supernatural/paranormal world.
DmC is the first game I, personally, played with the actual home theater set hooked up to the Play Station 3. The sound is again, better than the original series but when comparing it to other video game series such as Skyrim it wouldn't rank so high in this category.
In my opinion, the gameplay itself is decent.
For the characters, Dante never really lost his humor but it did become more vulgar than before and at times a little too childish for my taste. For Kat, I never really got a clear picture on her. The main issue with her was that she didn't have enough background information on her and I couldn't tell how old she actually was, (I figured she was around 15 to maybe 17 years of age).
The two main issues with the reboot are the storyline was changed too much and much of the information was wrong in the game. The one that irked me the most was whenever they said the word, "Nephilim". Incase some of you don't know, Nephilim are the offspring of Angel and human, not Angel and demon.
There are a total of 20 levels in Devil May Cry and can be completed in one sitting. The bosses were somewhat difficult Spoiler:
Not counting the graphics and sound (which was the only real noteworthy scores) the game isn't as great as I thought it would be and talking to those who have also played the game have agreed.
I was hoping the storyline would be improved and it was but it was also changed which I wasn't particularly fond of and like I have stated in the "Gameplay" section, most of the information Capcom had used was wrong and needs to be corrected in future games.
For those who have not played the rebooted game buthave played the original game and liked it, I recommend notplaying this one. In the outcome, you will be very, very disappointed. As for those who have never played the series, it is possible that you very well might like this version of the DmC series but still not worth your $50 or even $30.
