How to Beat Dr. Neo Cortex

When you reach the 'The Past Unmasked' level in Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time you will encounter the final boss of the game. This will be Dr Neo Cortex, the mad scientist who seeks to achieve world domination as an act of vengeance for the ridicule he has suffered in the past. In this boss fight Dr. Cortex will take away all four masks from you and use them himself. The actual fight can be broken down into four different phases, here is what you must do in each of them to defeat him.

Phase 1

At the start of the battle you need to bounce on each of the Shoot-O-Matics 3 times to destroy them. You must do this while also dodging their big yellow ring attacks and the falling platforms. When Dr. Cortex assistant is deployed spin him to take off the first health bar.

Phase 2

Dr. Cortex will now use Lani-Loli. You need to jump over the phasing platforms, destroy the Shoot-O-Matics, and spin the assistant again. At this point Dr. Cortex will begin to use his AnnihiLaser and you need to avoid it's beams by ducking in order to stay alive. Dr. Cortex will then use Ika-Ika and you will need to dodge the lasers while upside-down. Jump on the Shoot-O-Matics like before and spin the assistant again.

Phase 3

Dr. Cortex will now use Kapuna-Wa and the platforms will begin to disappear again like before. Begin by sprinting to the right making sure you stay on the platforms that are not phasing away. At this point Dr. Cortex will begin to intermittingly slow down time which will not be much of a problem if you focus on bouncing on the left-most Shoot-O-Matic when it appears and then jumping into the bottom-left corner. Stay there until the cycle comes around and then run to the top-right turret and jump onto it. You now need to jump over to the assistant and spin him you will put an end to Dr. Cortex time-trickery.

Phase 4

Dr. Cortex will now use the final mask, 'Akano. Begin by dodging the lasers and quickly jumping on all four Shoot-O-Matics. This is important because the less turrets there are, the less ground-based waves of energy you will have to contend with. When you have destroyed the final Shoot-O-Matic you will need to defeat four assistants. Keep avoiding the lasers until you have beaten the final assistant, upon doing so you will have completed Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time.
