A new RTS, based on D-DAY. They say it's a revolution for the RTS Genre. And it sure was. In this revie I'm checking out Company Of Heroes, it's campaign, and other things. I hope you enjoy the review. And be sure to play if you believed the review ^^
Company Of Heroes (CoH) is a very graphics intense game. You might consider buying this game with caution, because not every PC can handle it.
Even from the normal view in the game. You still can see every single detail. Your troops, the enemy, the blood that drips, the bullets flying around your head, and the explosions that will give massive destruction. CoH is one of the first game that offers a great camera views, that will allow you to take awesome screenshots, or to check out the soldiers perspective.
Everything that has interacted with someone, will stay like that. If a tank drives a couple of lights from the streets, it will still be laying there. If your tank is destroyed, it can be used as cover. A beautifull landscape, can turn into a war zone.
Great music, that changes when you enter combat, and leave. The funny voice acting from your soldiers, and also radio. Everytime your soldier done something, or is in deep trouble, you will hear on the radio. If your units are standby, or in combat, they will actually jabber about everything. The gun sounds however are good for the ear, and are not as brute as some other FPS.
Hehe, this probably is the cause of the new revolution. Company Of Heroes is based on squads. And not individual soldiers. And also because your units can take cover in almost everything. Making them harder to kill, atleast under certain circumstances. Powerfull adds on your type of command, you can use elite things, that makes you even more powerfull.
But unique in this game too, is supressed & pinned on squads. If your squad is under heavy fire, IE from a machine gun, it will be supressed, making them more vurnerable, or even pinned, so they can be killed right in their tracks.
But if you think tanks are strong, think again. Like realism, a tank can be hit on it's back or rear armor, and even infantry, can kill a tank. But a tank can suffer from more evil. It's engine can be destroyed, it's gun, or even it's gunner. This makes the game more fun and challenge, but also hard.
Im statisfied about the great campaign in this game. D-Day, Omaha Beach, the huge airborne operation, and more. If you want to buy a new RTS. Dont buy Command & Conquer that is still the same as always. But go for Company Of Heroes, with realistic gameplay, cover-system, and an awesome story.
Company of Heroes has great graphics, awesome story, nice gameplay, and is worth your money. If you ever wanted a game for your son that is less then 16 years old, don't buy it. It sure is bloody, and when units are trapped in an explosion it will fly organs.
