Assassin's Creed III Achievements

Latest update by CMBF on Dec 12th 2012

With a nice variety of Achievements this time around, gamers will find that the balance between story-based Achievements and action-based Achievements is nicely cast, so that while a significant number will come with regular play, they are rewarded for special actions and, what is more the point, are encouraged to experiment with actions and attacks among other things, making this one of the more interesting Achievement sets in the series.

The difficulty level for unlocking all of the Achievements in the game scores around 6/10 which makes it well within the reach of most gamers, who can expect to spend anywhere between 50 hours and 65 hours on them. There are 45 Offline Achievements and 5 Online ones, so even if you do not like to play online against other players the amount that not liking that costs you in Gamerpoints is not too severe. Of course this would be a good time to experiment with online play – who knows, you may discover you like it!

One thing you should be aware of if you go after the collection points to enable Animus Hacks in the post-story game – turning those on does prevent unlocking some Achievements...

The following are the Achievements for AC3 presented in the order that they are likely to be encountered and unlocked (for the most part):

Rude Awakening (10G)

Requirement: Re-Enter the Animus.

Achievement Notes: Story-related and cannot be missed.

Whit's fur ye'll no go by ye! (10G)

Requirement: Block a firing line 5 times by using a human shield.

Achievement Notes: Basically all that you need to do for this is to grab a human shield whenever you see a group of soldiers are making ready to shoot at you (the yellow triangle forms over their heads). Let them shoot your shield and that counts as one block. Repeat that four more times and you unlock this Achievement.

Mystery Guest (20G)

Requirement: Complete Sequence 1 & 2.

Achievement Notes: Story-related and cannot be missed.

How D'ya Like Them Apples (20G)

Requirement: Complete Sequence 3.

Achievement Notes: Story-related and cannot be missed.

Heroes are Born (20G)

Requirement: Complete Sequence 4.

Achievement Notes: Story-related and cannot be missed.

By Invitation Only (20G)

Requirement: Be invited to join a Club.

Achievement Notes: You get this when you go near a club member for one of the “clubs” in the game and you have done at least one of the activities (note done one, not completed the challenge) in their first Challenge Set. They will invite you to join, you need to nothing nor accept, and this Achievement will unlock.

Eye Witness (10G)

Requirement: Witness a predator killing an enemy.

Achievement Notes: This is unlocked by witnessing a predator (animal) attacking another human (Redcoat) and while there are not a plethora of these events it would be shocking if you made it to Sequence 06 without unlocking this – especially if you spend a fair bit of time in the Frontier Region.

House Party (10G)

Requirement: Recruit any of the Artisans and see them settled on the Homestead.

Achievement Notes: You obtain this when you complete the first Homestead Mission that recruits a settler.

The Day the Templars Cried (20G)

Requirement: Complete Sequence 5.

Achievement Notes: Story-related and cannot be missed.

Blowing in the Wind (20G)

Requirement: Retrieve every page for one of Ben Franklin's Almanacs.
Achievement Notes: Most of the Almanacks have just four pages you need to collect, and

you can buy a map in the store that shows where they all are. You will want to collect them all anyway and not just to get 100% game completion, but because completing each Almanack (collecting its pages) unlocks the special recipes from Benjamin Franklin, who is the author and publisher.

Tea is for Englishmen (20G)

Requirement: Complete Sequence 6.

Achievement Notes: Story-related and cannot be missed.

The Whites of Their Eyes (20G)

Requirement: Complete Sequence 7.

Achievement Notes: Story-related and cannot be missed.

Caged Wolf (20G)

Requirement: Complete Sequence 8.

Achievement Notes: Story-related and cannot be missed.

Two if by Sea (20G)

Requirement: Complete Sequence 9.

Achievement Notes: Story-related and cannot be missed.

Grim Expectations (20G)

Requirement: Complete Sequence 10.

Achievement Notes: Story-related and cannot be missed.

Difficult End (20G)

Requirement: Complete Sequence 11.

Achievement Notes: Story-related and cannot be missed.

The Sum of Truth (50G)

Requirement: Complete Sequence 12.

Achievement Notes: Story-related and cannot be missed.

No Good Deed Goes Unpunished (20G)

Requirement: Open the Temple Door and learn Desmond's fate.

Achievement Notes: Story-related and cannot be missed.

Perfectionist (50G)

Requirement: Complete 100% of all main mission constraints.

Achievement Notes: Complete all of the Optional Tasks for each mission in all 12 Sequences. You can replay any of the Sequences that you failed to gain 100% Synchronization for.

An Extraordinary Man (10G)

Requirement: Complete the Encyclopedia of the Common Man.

Achievement Notes: To complete this Achievement you need to scan each of the residents of the Homestead while they are doing their two special tasks.

Patent Not Pending (10G)

Requirement: Craft one of Franklin's inventions to decorate your Manor.

Achievement Notes: You obtain the recipes for these by collecting all of the pages of an Almanack.

A Complete Set (20G)

Requirement: See all the optional characters settled at the Homestead.

Achievement Notes: This is unlocked after you recruit all of the potential settlers to the Homestead. That includes the following:

  • Big Dave

  • Ellen

  • Father Timothy

  • Godfrey & Terry

  • Lance

  • Lyle White

  • Myriam

  • Norris

  • Oliver and Corrine

  • Warren & Prudence

Original Gamer (20G)

Requirement: Win a game of Fanorona, Morris and Bowls on the Homestead.

Achievement Notes: This is a LOT harder than you might think, and basically it requires equal parts luck and patience and a little learning how the games are played. You have to play these – and win – on the Homestead, which will not be a problem once you have most of the settlers there – and besides that there is an element to one of the Thief Club Challenges that requires you to win $500 at the games anyway, so you will be wanting to do them for sure.

Bring Down the House (20G)

Requirement: Explore Fort Wolcott.

Achievement Notes: This is part of the Peg Leg series of quests for the pirate treasure, and you will unlock this as a matter of course as your pursue those.

Kidd Gloves (30G)

Requirement: Uncover the mystery of Oak Island.

Achievement Notes: Another from the Peg Leg series of quests after the Pirate Treasure, and you will unlock this one for completing this part of the missions.

All Washed Up (40G)

Requirement: Complete all Naval Missions aboard the Aquila.

Achievement Notes: Pretty self-explanatory – and fun – you will unlock this after you complete the final Naval Mission.

Entrepreneur, not Pirate! (20G)

Requirement: Complete all 12 Privateer Contracts.

Achievement Notes: Again obvious as to what you need to do to unlock this one.

Tumblehome (10G)

Requirement: Upgrade the Aquila.

Achievement Notes: There is a book next to the gangplank on the docks at the Homestead that you can use to purchase the upgrades for the ship – but bring plenty of coin, you will need it! Though this is for the first upgrade so that will not be all that expensive really...

In Good Standing (30G)

Requirement: Complete all challenges for any of the Clubs.

Achievement Notes: Just as it says, and this will unlock over time as you really should end up completing most of the challenges for the clubs as a matter of regular play.

Man of the People (20G)

Requirement: Liberate all districts in Boston OR New York.

Achievement Notes: Self-explanatory.

Monopoly Man (10G)

Requirement: Send a convoy to Boston, New York and the Frontier.

Achievement Notes: Self-explanatory.

Completionist (50G)

Requirement: Complete ALL progress tracker grid entries.

Achievement Notes: This is unlocked for completing all of the various game modes that are tracked by percentage, and includes the following sections:

  • Clubs: complete all of the challenges and the missions for each club.

  • Discoveries: Basically all Almanac Pages, Treasure Chests, Feathers, Trinkets, Fort Liberations,
  • Underground Entrance/Exits, and finally Citizen Missions.

  • Homestead: Recruit all of the settlers, do all of the missions, and do all the crafting inventions.

  • Sequences: the story mode and requires 100% synchronization for all optional objectives.

  • Side Missions: basically all of the city liberation missions.

  • Naval: all of the Naval Missions, Privateer Contracts, and Peg Leg's Captain Kidd quests.

Multitasking (20G)

Requirement: Complete 50% of the Progress Tracker entries.

Achievement Notes: Self-explanatory.

Spit Roast (20G)

Requirement: Perform a double assassination using a musket.

Achievement Notes: This one is a lot harder than it sounds - you need to use a loaded musket to attack two guards (one behind the other) and shoot the musket after poking its bayonet through the first soldier...

Circus Act (10G)

Requirement: Kill 15 guards with a single cannon shot.

Achievement Notes: You have several opportunities to use cannon on groups of soldiers and just need to kill 15 at once.

Predator (10G)

Requirement: Hang 5 enemies by using rope darts.

Achievement Notes: Self-explanatory.

Prince of Thieves (10G)

Requirement: Loot a convoy without killing any of its guards.

Achievement Notes: Just be sure you have hand selected (not a weapon) and do not throw any of the soldiers into a solid object or allow them to come between you and other soldiers who are shooting at you. If ANY dies for ANY reason whether at your hand or not, this will not unlock.

Jagger Bomb (20G)

Requirement: After becoming fully Notorious, kill 10 Jaggers before losing your notoriety.

Achievement Notes: Self-explanatory.

Magna cum Laude (20G)

Requirement: Have a Trainee reach the Assassin Rank.

Achievement Notes: Self-explanatory.

Coureur des Bois (10G)

Requirement: Exchange undamaged pelts at all different general stores.

Achievement Notes: Self-explanatory.

Fin (30G)

Requirement: Complete each of the epilogue missions unlocked after the credits roll.

Achievement Notes: Self-explanatory.

Multi-Player Achievements

Compared to some of the previous games in the series these are pretty tame, and there really is no reason for most players -- even those who are not keen on online play -- not to unlock these...

Abstergo Entertainment (10G)

Requirement: Reach level 20 in the multi-player mode.

Achievement Notes: Self-explanatory.

Hunter/Killer (20G)

Requirement: Reach Sequence 10 in a map on Wolfpack multi-player mode.

Achievement Notes: Self-explanatory.

Winning Team (20G)

Requirement: Be on the winning team at the end of a multi-player game session.

Achievement Notes: Self-explanatory.

Personalized (10G)

Requirement: Customize your multi-player Profile and Character.

Achievement Notes: Self-explanatory.

The Truth Will Out (20G)

Requirement: Unlock a hacked version of one of the Abstergo videos in the story quest.

Achievement Notes: Self-explanatory.

Secret Achievements

These Achievements are secret mostly to prevent revealing some of the plot points, or at least that was the word on them. The fact that they reflect activities undertaken by Desmond in the real world sort of supports that theory. Once you have them unlocked obviously they are visible to you, but anyone looking at your list of Achievements on LIVE will only see them if they also have them unlocked.

Criss Cross (20G)

Requirement: Complete Present - Skyscraper.

Achievement Notes: Story element that cannot be missed.

Daddy Dearest (20G)

Requirement: Complete Present - Stadium.

Achievement Notes: Story element that cannot be missed.

The End is Nigh (20G)

Requirement: Complete Present - Abstergo.

Achievement Notes: Story element that cannot be missed.

Head in the Cloud (20G)

Requirement: Find all pivots and sync the Animus to the Cloud.

Achievement Notes: This is complicated because the pivots (special collectibles) that are collected to unlock the Animus Hacks are NOT the same for any two games. Basically your pivot locations were set by some other player in THEIR game, and when you set them in YOUR game, some other poor schlub gets them at those places in theirs. Basically you just have to be patients and serious about collecting these...
