How to Upgrade Tools in My Time at Sandrock
Upgrading your tools in My Time at Sandrock is essential to gain access to rarer resources. This How to Upgrade Tools in My Time at Sandrock will tell you what you need to do to upgrade items like the Pickhammer and Axe so you can progress more efficiently in the game.
How to Craft Bronze Tools
While traversing the Sandrock map you will eventually run into a shaking icon that informs you that you don't have the right tool to mine that resource. There are several tiers of upgrades in the game, the first is a set of bronze tools which consists of a Bronze Axe and Bronze Pickhammer. These can be crafted by using your Stone Tools to gather the following resources.
- Four Bronze Bars
- One Sharpening Stone
- Two Wooden Sticks
- Two Copper Screws
These are smelted from Copper and Tin Ore which can easily be found in the Eufaula Savage Ruins. They can also be purchased from the Hammer Time Shop.
These can only be purchased from the Hammer Time Shop and cost 500 Gols at standard.
Made at the worktable from three wood.
Made from a grinder or purchased from the Hammer Time Shop. If you don't buy them from Hugo at the Hammer Time Shop you will need to research the Grinder by giving Qi the Scientist 3 Data Discs and waiting a day for the recipe.
Once you have collected these resources take them to a basic or improved workbench and you will be able to craft a Bronze Axe and Bronze Pickhammer. With these upgraded tools you will be able to smash bigger rocks and have a chance to return stamina every time stamina is consumed. The Pickhammer can be upgraded using the refiner.
How to Craft Iron Tools
The second tier of upgrades is a set of Iron Tools. The most important resource you will need is Steel Bars which can be discovered in the Gecko Station Ruins by using a civil recycler to sift through the scrap. At the Gecko Station Ruins you will also find the Manganese Ore for the Civil Furnace which is required to smelt the Steel Bars that you need for the Pickaxe.
The following resources are also needed:
- Two Hardwood Sticks
- Two Sharpening Stones
Crafted from the Processor with hard wood or obtained by salvaging Water Tower.
These can only be purchased from the Hammer Time Shop and cost 500 Gols at standard. The Sharpening Stones are needed in order to craft the Iron Tools.
How to Craft Chromium Tools
Upgrading tools to later tiers such as Chromium requires more advanced materials, the steps are essentially the same. You need to advance the story to gain access to new Abandoned Ruins and the resources they contain. You also need to keep progressing down Qi's research tree to unlock the Workstation to process them.
The Chromium Pickhammer can be crafted on an Advanced Worktable with Chromium Steel Bars and Petrified Wooden Sticks, two Sharpening Stones from Hugo's Hammer Time Shop are also required.
