10 Big Issues With Pokemon GO

Smeargle

We are already well within the 3rd Generation in Pokemon GO - with the 4th Generation quickly approaching as everyday passes - but believe it or not, Smeargle, a 2nd Generation Pokemon, has yet to be released. This annoys a lot of fans playing the game, as their Pokedex will never truly be able to be complete without Smeargle ultimately coming to the game. But there is a reason why Smeargle has yet to be released by Niantic, and that reason revolves around the question that surrounds its exclusive move of Sketch.

If you don’t already know, Sketch basically allows Smeargle to learn any and every Pokemon Move known to man. In order to do this, all it must do is use Sketch while in battle with another Pokemon, permanently copying and learning the move the other Pokemon uses against it. It’s basically like the attacks of Mirror Move or Copycat found in the Mainstream Pokemon Games, except it allows Smeargle, as mentioned, to permanently learn the move. In a game like Pokemon GO where each and every Pokemon can really only know up to three or four Special Attacks, you can immediately see the problem Niantic faces with Pokemon GO.

Much like Ditto, we think Niantic will one day find an answer to the question of Smeargle and its move of Sketch. Speaking of Ditto, honestly, Niantic could do almost the exact same thing with Smeargle. While in a Gym Battle against another Pokemon, Smeargle could instantly use the move Sketch and then know that given Pokemon’s Moves during the extent of the battle. Like Ditto, the moves Smeargle will have will remain the same during the battle, with the moves no longer remaining after the Gym Battles ends. Though this technically doesn’t allow Smeargle to use Sketch like it normally does, it would at least see Smeargle finally being released to Pokemon GO.
