Is Anthem the Best Game at E3?

Anthem by EA's Bioware studio has been revealed at E3 in the form of a highly polished six-minute gameplplay demo that has stunning graphics and compelling combat mechanics played on a resolution of 3840 x 2160. Anthem is being released on multiple platforms so it will be interesting to see how it scales up to high-end PCs, and down to PS4 Pro, PS4, and Xbox One. The game will run in 4K and feature other enhancements when played on Xbox One X.

The game itself is a shared-world action sci-fi RPG that features a heavy emphasis on cooperative play. You play the role of a Freelancer tasked with exploring unknown planets and protecting humanity. Up to four players can team up and complete missions together and each player will have a customisable exo-suit called a javelin which lets you develop a wide range of abilities by either acquiring or crafting them. These Javelin suits also allow you to fly like Superman, through the jungles and lakes and lightning storms of the giant open world the game is played in.

Is the game any good though? This is the question everyone who attended E3 and saw the demo is asking. Everyone agrees though that watching the gameplay demo is like watching a hybrid of Iron Man, Destiny, Attack on Titan, and Mass Effect as it borrows elements from each of them. On first impressions you are left thinking that this game will be great but then you start wondering whether it will be a story-driven experience that plays to BioWare's strengths or is it's just a mish-mash of other games that is just a grindy action shooter with great graphics but no substance?

Anthem is scheduled for release fall of 2018.
