Xbox One S to release Aug 2nd

Microsoft have given us their release date for their updates Xbox One console, the 'S'. The new console was announced only recently along side their future plans for the project Scorpio VR machine. The Xbox One S boast a few technical improvements over the current console but is mostly highlighted by is much smaller physical size.

The initial release will be for a limited 'Launch Edition' console with a 2Tb HD selling for $399 that will be in shops and delivered (if you pre-order) on August 2nd. They will also be offering smaller storage options for lower prices, 1Tb at $349 and a standard 500GB ar $299, but they will be released at a later (unspecified) date.

At 40% smaller and with 4K Video and HDR it is a nice update for the console and may help add a few new sales. But whether it has any chance of tempting exiting owners to upgrade is doubtful. Especially with many waiting to see what goodies will be added for the promised Project Scorpio device and more importantly at what price it will offered at.
