Ranking The Ten Pokemon Champions

#6) Red

Coming in as the sixth best Pokemon Champion in our opinion is Red. Now you never were able to battle Red as a Pokemon Champion - most fans really wish they could have - but that doesn't mean he wasn't at one time Champion. The storyline for the first ever Pokemon Games saw Red face Blue for the Pokemon League Championship at the end of the game. We all know that you had to win at some point in order to continue the storyline, but that didn't mean the creators would continue the storyline of this. Fortunately they did, and this was made known in Pokemon Gold and Silver. Within those games, you discover from Blue himself that Red did indeed win the Championship over Blue. After losing, Blue took over for the Giovanni as the final Kanto Gym Leader. Red, instead of becoming the champion, decided to take an alternate route to continue to be a Pokemon Master. Lance was re-established as the Pokemon League Champion, and the rest was history.

Even though Red is one of the best Trainers ever released in the Pokemon Games, he fell short of greatness in regards to being the Champion. The route he took was okay, but everyone knows that fans would have rather faced Red as the Champion over Lance in Pokemon Gold and Silver. You still had the privilege of facing Red in those games, but it's not the same as if Red was the Champion. It would have been the perfect finish to the Giovanni/Silver storyline of those games, and then Blue would be the missing piece to the puzzle. And since Red didn't live up to this, he finds himself coming up short on this list; if he had been the Pokemon League Champion in the Sequel Games, Red would have been ranked much higher on our list.
