Top 10 Unlikely Celebrity Gamers You Might Have Played With

06. Samuel L. Jackson (Xbox and PlayStation)

As an actor Samuel L. Jackson has been in the business since 1972 - his first role being Stan in Together for Days - and considering his high-profile roles in classics like Mo' Better Blues, Pulp Fiction (What me again! I dare you!), and xXx, at first you wouldn't think that video games would hold much of an interest for him...

But when you look under the surface there is so much evidence supporting his fascination with and serious dedication to video games that to say he is 'into gaming' is like saying water is wet.

The thing is, like his choices in film and TV, Jackson has played some very targeted and influential roles in video games as a voice actor.

Who can forget Officer Frank Tenpenny in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (Rockstar / 2004), his Samurai and Ninja in Afro Samurai (Namco Bandai / 2008), Nick Fury in Iron Man 2 (Sega / 2010) or Mace Windu in LEGO Star Wars III (Traveller's Tales / 2011)?

Those are just his credited roles mind you -- he has more than just a handful of cameos across the video game spectrum, and the fact that he has hosted the video game awards multiple times should be a clue that he has something of an interest in that sort of entertainment.

While reminiscing during an interview with Access Hollywood, Jackson talked about his early game play experiences starting with Pong and moving on to Atari and arcade games like Space Invaders, but admits that today he has total enthusiasm for games like Assassin's Creed, or really any first-person-shooter.

He likens modern day games to film, noting that they have more entertainment value than most movies. Asking him what his preferred console is will just earn a blank stare.

'I want to play shooting games. I need to get more first-person-shooters,' he declares. 'I don't mind doing that - sitting at home - I'll sit at home and throw down with guns in front of the TV all day long! Give me a gun and I am all over it. I have total enthusiasm for all these games.'

Piecing together a picture of his current video game preferences through a wide assortment of interviews reveals that Jackson wasn't kidding about loving the shooter genre - but not just first-person shooters as it turns out.

While he has a special place in his heart for the GTA series, and an addiction to the Fallout series, he gets a lot of mileage out of his heavy daily play in GTA Online and Call of Duty.
