Top 10 Most Underrated Games

8) Alan Wake

Alan Wake is probably one of the most well-received games on this list in terms of review scores (it has an 83 on Metacritic) but based on the fact it was supposed to be one of the biggest blockbuster titles for the Xbox 360, it still qualifies as underrated. For a game that took over five years to develop, it didn't sell all that great. According to numbers from VGChartz, Alan Wake only sold 600,000 copies in North America and about 1.25 million copies worldwide. Not bad, but not what was to be expected from the game and not what it should have earned. This game was good enough to fulfill expectations and should have sold much better than it did.

Alan Wake provided 360 gamers with a much-needed breath of fresh air from the constant FPS releases. Alan Wake focused on story over combat – something games rarely do anymore. The story was full of interesting twists and turns and gamers could easily relate to the main character who was just an everyday dude.

Alan Wake was also one of the first video games to use a live action miniseries as a way of promoting the game. The six episodes of “Bright Falls” have received millions of views on YouTube.
