The combination of heavily cliched characters and the life-saving, disaster-averting GF system stands out big time. But so does your Chocobo -- which you could breed, race, and travel on, while becoming very attached. Perhaps unhealthily so.
The stunning (for the time) visuals, and the mixture of content that was clearly laughing at itself in the story somehow canceled out the negative aspects -- it was an alchemical mixture that made all things good and fun. We miss that in video games today.In short, if you have never played FFVII you have no idea what you have missed, rush right out and get it now! No, don't get dressed -- Pajamas are find for GameStop -- we said NOW!
