GameStop's Holiday Trade-In Promo and 360 Bundle Joint Announce

Note: The following list of prices presumes that the device is in flawless condition with no damage, that it properly boots up when the power button is pressed, and along with the console you have the power brick and cables, TV cable, and the standard pair of game controllers (game pads) that come with the standard console package when it was sold new. The following estimated prices are for TRADE-IN to store, and not cash value. The cash value for these units is considerably less than the generous (from their POV) valuation being given for trade-in purposes...

== Adventures in Recycling ==

And there you have it, your own personal guide to adventures in game kit recycling. If your reaction to the average valuations for what was previously some very expen$ive kit back when you originally bought it is dismay and depression well, do not feel bad! Most gamers have that reaction!

If you feel that the average valuation for consoles is on the low side, you should see the valuations for cash transactions -- whew! The value that GameStop (and other companies) place on kit for in-store credit is generally fair, with their assessments being more liberal based on you spending that amount in the store. If the amount being offered even in trade value is still too low for you to be comfortable with it, that is when you should pull back and consider putting the items up on eBay -- though you may want to check eBay first to see what the item is selling at before you make that decision...

A good example of the disparity in value and price in that respect can be found in the Nintendo DS -- which is valued at $18 for trade-in value (and $36 under the Double Value Promo) -- as a check of auctions on eBay shows that the vanilla standard DS all by itself has a desired value of around $60 (that is what sellers would like to realize on its sale), and an actual value (based upon closed auctions) of around varies between $30 and $45, so auctioning your DS may be the way to go...
