The King of Fighters '99 Arcade Cheats and Tips

the most important thing to keep in mind about arcade mode : the scoring system in this game (called Battle Ability) is different from typical scores from most games , instead of increasing points per hit to your opponents , the BA will be determined once you clear the stage as an evaluation of your performance : meaning that moving from stage to stage your score will accordingly increase or decrease depending on how well you fight everytime ( a certain amount of the BA points is necessary to earn the bonus fight vs Kyo/Iori , check out the cheat on the page).

At the end of arcade mode you have the possibility of fighting against either Iori Yagami or (the real) Kyo Kusanagi in an extra/bonus fight right after the final boss Krizalid , in order to earn the fight you have 2 conditions to fulfill

-After the 5th stage take note of your battle ability (Score points)

-Beat the entire game with no continues

With these 2 conditions achieved : if your BA points from after stage 5 are in the gap between 200 and 280 points then Iori will appear , otherwise if it's even higher than 280 points then Kyo will appear , this fight is one-time only and the game will conclude into credits roll regardless of the outcome

Display Character Order:

When selecting your character's fighting order hold 'Start'.

Select your Victory Pose:

When you have defeated your opponent press a Punch or Kick button.

Unlockable Characters

The following two codes can only be used on arcade machines that have the letters 'K.I.' or 'K' at the bottom of the title screen.

Unlock Real Kyo Kusanagi:

Highlight the random character selection box, then hold 'Start' and press Left, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right. If you have entered the code correctly Kyo's picture will replace the sun symbol.

Unlock Iori Yagami:

Highlight the random character selection box, then hold 'Start' and press Right, Left, Up, Right, Down, Left. If you have entered the code correctly Iori's picture will replace the cresent moon symbol.
