Select Characters in Attract Mode:

At the 'Character Select' screen in Attract Mode press the 1-Player and 2-Player buttons and press 'Start' to select the computer's character.

Unlock Alternate Colours:

At the 'Character' select screen use the 1-Player and 2-Player buttons to highlight a character and choose the character's alternate colour.
