Axe

Obtained From: Purchase from Tom Nook – 400 bells

Tool used for cutting down unnecessary trees around town. This is the only tool that can break. Always check the axe in your inventory and look out if it has chips on it, which means it has chipped down due to excessive cutting.

Golden Axe

Obtained From: Follow the correct path for the Red Turnip Trade.

To receive the golden axe, you have to get a Red Turnip Seed from Joan first. Keep watering it until it becomes a Red Turnip. Give the Red Turnip to Wendell, make sure he gives you the Turban in return. Give the Turban to Saharah, who should give you a Massage Chair in return. Trade the Massage Chair to Tortimer, in exchange for the Scallop. Lastly give the Scallop to Pascal, who should give you the Golden Axe in return. The golden axe will never break.

Shovel

Obtained From: Purchase from Tom Nook – 500 bells

Used to dig out holes in the ground. Can be used to dig any location that is not blocked by various objects like water, buildings, etc. After digging, you can plant fruits or just bury any item that you wish. It is also used to up pitfall seeds, Fossils, Gyroids, etc. Digging points are marked by star-like symbols on the ground. The shovel is also useful for hitting rocks, which is very useful when looking for the bell rock. Keep hitting the bell rock once you've found it to reveal bell bags. You know you've located the bell rock since it generates a clinking music, like the sound of coins clashing. Lastly pill Bugs hide under rocks, which you need to dig up first before you can catch them using the net afterwards.

Golden Shovel

Obtained From: Buy 2 shovels, bury one of them. Check it back after 6AM the next day.

Used for growing money trees.

Slingshot

Obtained From: Purchase from Tom Nook – 500 bells

Useful mainly for shooting present balloons hovering across the sky. These balloons float around from 10AM to 4PM everyday. Just make sure to not hit the balloon when it is above water or patterns; or the item will fall down the water or pattern, and disappear.

Golden Slingshot

Obtained From: Shoot down a total of 16 present balloons. Will be dropped in the northern area.

Shoots three stones, covers a much wider hitbox.

Fishing Rod

Obtained From: Purchase from Tom Nook – 500 bells

Primarily used for Fishing. Just use the rod at locations wherever you may see fish silhouettes. For further details, check out the Fishing Guide.

Golden Fishing Rod

Obtained From: Catch all 56 kinds of Fishes available in the game

Reduces reeling time by 5 seconds when you fish. This allows for faster Fishing.

Net

Obtained From: Purchase from Tom Nook – 500 bells

Used to catch Bugs. Covers up one space and only has very limited reach. It's still very useful though, as it is your only tool for bug-catching before you acquire the Golden Net.

Obtained From: Catch all 56 kinds of Bugs available in the game

Much larger in size compared to the regular bug net, which makes Bug Hunting all the more easier.

Watering Can

Obtained From: Purchase from Tom Nook – 500 bells

Useful for watering wilted, blackened, or dried flowers.

Golden Watering Can

Obtained From: Keep Perfect Town status for 16 consecutive days, then talk to Pelly or Phyllis

Used to make rare, golden roses. Watering a wilting black-colored rose will give you a golden rose. These have quite an expensive selling price for you to earn bells quickly.

Sparklers, Party Popper, and Roman Candle

Obtained From: Given by Tortimer during certain special scenes.

These are basically fireworks that you can use by pressing the A button.

Timer

Obtained From: Purchase from Tom Nook – 500 bells

Mainly used as a stopwatch, especially for Wi-Fi competitions between human players.
