Trees can only grow on open acres that has no obstructions like signboards, bridges, buildings and other landmarks. Some areas cannot be planted at all, as the game suggests that these acres should be for walking areas of the villagers. Up to 24 trees can grow at one acre, and each one-fourth of an acre can only have a max of 6 trees.

Once planted, saplings cannot de destroyed. Only if the planting location is bad for growing plants is the sole reason why a tree cannot fully grow. However, you can just dig up a planted tree using a shovel if you don't like it. It takes 4 days for a sapling to be fully matured. As a fully grown tree, you can use an axe to cut it down, then a shovel to remove the remaining stump afterwards.

These are the types of trees you can grow:

* Standard Deciduous

– provides bell bags, bee's nest or furniture if shaken.

- purchase saplings from Tom Nook's Store

* Cedar Coniferous

– provides bell bags, bee's nest or furniture if shaken.

- purchase saplings from Tom Nook's Store

* Fruit Trees

– provides up to 3 pieces of fruits when shaken

- grows fruits back after 2 days

- dig soil and plant a part of it to grow it

* Coconut Trees

- provides up to 2 pieces of coconuts when shaken

- grows fruits back after 2 days

- dig soil and plant a coconut to grow it

* Money Trees

- dig soil and plant a bell bag to grow it

- needs golden shovel to plant one

- for a golden shovel, bury a shovel with another shovel, wait until 6am the next day, then dig it out

- the more bell bags you bury, the better the money tree grows
