Sending gifts and daily visits to you friends increases your reputation and adds to your experience therefore reaching the next level much quicker.usually they send gifts in return and should you send a gift on their wish list, quite often they return the favour by sending a gift on your wish list.

each friend has a certain expertise. some increase coins, some experience points. when you hire them it is similar to using a talisman - you will get something extra (points, coins, etc) when you successfully investigate screen
