No he wasn't invisible people can shoot through rocks with trick shots so that may have been what had happened
He may have been using chameleon which makes you undetectable on a satalite scan.

You have to destroy all the vehicles before the convey get in range if they are to close when you blow up a vehicle the convoy will blow to....it's all about timing!
