When fighting a Horde, because they are interpreted by the game as being five separate enemies, even though they have one set of statistics like HP and MP, using area of effect attacks, like Critical Wave, Mabufu, Mazio and Maragi, allow you to hit Hordes numerous times.

This is far more effective than any single attack can be against the Horde due to having to target one at a time.
