AT my port there is a box and I don't know how tot pick it up, does it go straight to that import shop or do you have to pick it up manually?

Usually they would go straight to the import shop and you don't have to pick it up manually. I would go to the port and then wait for a bit and then see if a boat appears and takes your import item the other item will then go to the import shop

I think that the box gets sent to people if you are on street pass
Your miis should pick it up but I'm having the same issue so I'm not 100% sure
