I don't think so but I may be wrong. There may be unlockable furniture as I saw a screen shot of the "Bedroom" catalouge section with a phone option next to the lamp option

Well you can't on sims 3 on 3ds but near christmas there is a new game sims3 pets on ps3 and 3ds where you get a cat or dog but on ps3 you can also get a horse
