To awake the caterpillar you need to go to goomba forrtress and get the trumpet and go back to wiggler and press y and place it there

Use a trumpet (like the instrument) sticker. You can find a trumpet sticker in level 1-6 when the goomba throws it or in the little shop next to the sling-a-thing.

That caterpillar you're mentioning is called Wiggler. To awaken Wiggler, you need the "Trumpet" sticker. You find the "Trumpet in World 1-6, better know as the Goomba Fortress or the last level of World 1. Anyways, now turn that Trumpet into a sticker in Decalburg, the west side of that small city. Now head back to where Wiggler is, place the Trumpet around him using the y button and then you will awake the caterpillar, Wiggler.

To awaken Wiggler you need the trumpet. You can find the trumpet at the end of World 1-6, Goomba Fortress. Then turn it into a sticker. You then need to go to world 3-1, Leaflitter Path and go into paperize mode next to Wiggler. Stick the trumpet down and it will wake Wiggler, clearing the path.
