In the world 1-tower, when you are in the room with the green snake blocks, to the left, you'll see a small opening. But you have to jump in it at exactly the right time otherwise you'll be squished. If you successfully get through the gap, follow the path to the secret exit.

go to the mushroom house and become mini Mario, then return to the tower and you can enter the small pipe, but only as mini Mario
