Is there a way to disable the auto drift feature?

Question for Mario Kart 7

Is there a way to disable the auto drift feature? I can't stand it. I want it to be similar to Mario Kart DS, where you're able to turn as much as you want, without drifting, and be able to drift only manually.

I don't believe there is an auto drift. Maybe you're pressing and holding the L and are buttons while turning--if you are, just don't do that, and you'll be fine.

Pressing/Holding the L button doesn't make you drift in Mario Kart 7. In MK7, clicking L uses the current item your holding. And I'm well aware that the R button is used for drifting, I use it often. The auto drift I'm talking about is where you're simply, plainly holding either left or right on the circle pad, and then after, say... 3 seconds or so you'll automatically start to drift.

I have noticed the drift also, however I think it has to do with the handling of the cart you are currently using, the worse the handling of the cart the more likely it is that the cart will start skidding.

Sorry, I messed up on that, I was really tired because it was late at night...and yes, if you don't see sparks that means you're not drifting, so it's not auto drift.

And Pravinj has copied yet another submission.

I have noticed that. When you turn without holding R down, you automatically drift, just without sparks. You're right, it is annoying and I wished they cut it out of the game. But unfortunately, there is no way to disable it.
