How could I cross the bridge after pulling on the cord? I keep falling down, can someone help? Thanks

When you are crossing the bridge, make sure you are holding your 3DS straight. If you tilt your 3DS to the left, you will sway to the left. If you tilt it right, you will sway to the right. I had the exact same problem as you but eventually I worked it out.
