During the fight with The Fury you will discover that the Cardboard Box is flameproof so whenever Snake catches on fire simply equib the Cardboard Box to extinguish the flames. You will not take damage from flames on the ground as long as you have it equipped, this makes the Cardboard Box useful for navigating the hallways during the fight. Remember though that although flameproof the Cardboard Box will not be able to withstand a direct, close-range hit from the Fury's flamethrower. If this happens the force of the blast will knock the Cardboard Box off of Snake.
