The time is 1995, and gaming is still in its infancy. Nintendo (outside the Trading card circuit) is still just a child in what would later become an industry like no other, trying to get their hands on any ideas that could one day become a successful gaming hit. And then it happened one day when a relatively simple yet creative thought found its way into right into their laps, but little did they know it would explode into a worldwide phenomenon. And we're talking about none other than the franchise known as... No, not Final Fantasy, not the Legend of Zelda, not even the greatness of Mario... But the one, the only, Pokemon!

The Pokemon Company realistically began back in 1996 in the country of Japan, with the release of Pokemon Red and Green played on none other than the Gameboy. Yes, we said the Gameboy. Not a newer 3DS XL or DS or DSi, not the Gameboy Advance, not even a Gameboy Color, but the black and white, barely two-dimensional Gameboy Handheld System, run on none other than a set of batteries. But the Games, no matter how primitive (compared to today) in technology they were, were a hit, and soon the craze for these little Pocket Monsters spread across the globe from Europe to the United States, adapting the more aesthetically pleasing name of Pokemon and under the games of Red and Blue.

No one in the company, not even the creators of the fantasy, could've foreseen the international success that would spread across now two decades. From just the start of those two Games, the company has now released or been included in on close to a hundred different games, and they are constantly among the top-selling games in the world. Whether you're a trainer that strives on "Catching 'Em All" or being a Pokemon Master in the Competitive World, the company continues to produce an increasingly growing fan base.

And it doesn't stop with Games, as the company has had one of the most long-running anime series known to man. Since about 1996-1997, generations of fans have enjoyed the travels of Ash and his various companions across the vast and growing world of Pokemon. The franchise also has a dedicated fan base in the Trading card industry, and almost a cult following for the earlier released cards.

And as the company continues to strive in all avenues, newer and different paths are being explored in the gaming side of the franchise. We will be sticking closely to the mainstream Games that most Pokemon Fans are addicted to in this here guide, but you can't have a complete Pokemon guide without at least mentioning the other games that are coming into life from the company. From mobile games such as Pokemon GO where you search for Pokemon in the real world, to the newer "Living Animation" arcade game known as Pokken Tournament, to living life as a Pokemon in Pokemon Mystery Dungeons and playing with a Detective Pikachu in Birth of a New Duo, to their persistent involvement in the hit Super Smash Bros Games, the Pokemon Company continues to grow and reach out to the next generation of young fans.

Pokemon has been around and most of all relevant for what seems like forever, and it's safe to say the company and these little monsters will be around for a long time to come, and in a variety of different ways too!

And we are going to attempt to dive into this vast universe, covering from generations of Games and Plots to trying to catch them all to Trading and Codes to legendary creatures to Items galore! So come one all, whether a lifelong Pokemon Master, a complete Poke Novice, or even new to the culture! This! Is! Pokemon!
