If you have a favourite level which you want to play without playing through the game to reach it then at the 'Title' screen after Sonic appears press Up, Down, Left, Right. If you have entered the code correctly you will hear a confirmation chime. When this happens hold A + Start to bring up the 'Level' selection menu.
