Yoshi's New Island Cheats and Tips

Makes sure you have thoroughly explored a stage before progressing through a set of pinball flippers because Yoshi will not be able to backtrack.

In Yoshi's New Island there are different coloured eggs and each one signifies something different. A purple egg gives you 1 Red Coin, a green egg gives you 1 Gold coin, a yellow egg gives you 3 Gold coins and a red egg gives you 2 Stars.

Make sure you never leave gold coins behind as collecting them ALL may reveal a valuable item.

When you have collected ALL the Stars, Red Coins, and Flowers in the first 8 levels of a world you will unlock it's special level. This can be done during multiple playthroughs.

You can break objects and access new areas by using Yoshi's Ground Pound.

Make sure you use eggs wisely as there is no way of knowing how long it will be before you next encounter enemies or egg blocks to produce more eggs.

If you lose Baby Mario you need to find him quickly before all your Yoshi Star Power depletes and Yoshi loses one life. If the Yoshi Star Power counter which is located on the top right corner of the screen reaches zero Yoshi will lose one life. You can though increase your Star Power up to 30 while searching for Baby Mario by collecting stars.

Whenever they are available jump into a floating pair of binoculars as they allow you to use the 3DS gyroscope which enables you to get a better view of the stage making it easier to break pipes and collect coins with a Mega Eggdozer which is a very large Yoshi egg.

There is no time limit so there is no need to rush when searching a stage looking for hidden Red Coins, Smiley Flowers and other objects. You can also replay levels.

There is a goal ring which is made up of flowers at the end of every castle and non-fortress level. When you pass through a level each of the flower spots will fill in for every flower you collected (up to 5) on that run of the level. ALL the activated flowers will turn into medals if after passing through the goal ring the roulette stops on an activated flower. When you get a certain numnber of medals you will earn a reward. The medals do not have to be earned on different levels, it is possible to get ALL 30 by playing a single level multiple times.

Collect 10 medals in a world.

When you encounter a giant enemy you can turn it into a Mega Eggdozer by pressing B and then rapidly tapping B so that Yoshi devours it.

When you collect 100 Gold coins you will receive an extra life.

Remember when you are trying to collect object that eggs will ricochet off hard surfaces.
